Dear Funny,
I know it is not your fault that so many people misunderstand you. I’ve misunderstood you, too. The larger culture sometimes elevates you to the position of untouchable status, and uses you to belittle and minimize. Religious people sometimes require you to sit in the car, while they partake of sermons where your sister plays only a lead-in role, if any role at all, in the spiritual life of the congregants.
Apologies.
I’m going to write more often. To you, about you. My fellow writers and I will offer advice, critique (sorry), vision.
Oh, the places we’ll go.
Yours Truly in Smiles and Laughter,
L.L. Barkat
